About Dr. Damita LaRue Psychology

Dr. Damita is here to help you heal, grow, and thrive…however that looks for you.

Dr. Damita specializes in grief, loss, illness, life transitions, and all of the complexities that come with these changes. She has extensive experience working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, and other traditionally disenfranchised groups, as well as their allies.

She approaches therapy without prescribed agendas, because she knows your journey is unique to you. Her job is simply to walk alongside you to support you in moving toward your goals — whatever they may be — and help you step into a new phase of life with hope, confidence, and peace of mind.

And her support doesn’t stop in the therapy room.

She believes in supporting you in every facet of your care, whether this means:

  • Speaking with your medical team on your behalf

  • Collaborating with schools to support your children in their own journeys,

  • Leveraging clinical hypnosis for sleep or pain management

  • Directing you to additional services that can further benefit you

  • … and more!

Dr. Damita's Philosophies

You deserve the best care.

Dr. Damita is committed to your healing and well-being. This means that she participates in regular continuing education in order to provide you with the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment methods in order to support you in every facet of your health — physical, emotional, and mental.

Everyone has a place here.

Dr. Damita prioritizes diversity, honoring the intersection of each person’s unique backgrounds and identities and what that means for them. Dr. Damita fosters inclusivity for people of all ages, ability levels, religious and spiritual beliefs, races, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities, national origins, or any other defining characteristics. Everyone is welcome!

There is no "right way" to heal.

The way you process what you are going through may look very different than what you expected or have seen in others, and that’s okay. Dr. Damita is equipped to meet you right where you are and offer a safe, non-judgmental place to regain direction and overcome the stress, anxiety, or depression you feel today.

You are not defined by your grief or your illness.

Despite what you are going through, this is not who you are. You can still be the person you want to be and do what you love to do, and it’s Dr. Damita's greatest honor to help people see this, embrace it, and live it out.
